It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.”  Ernest Hemingway

I was reminded of this quote on Saturday as I rode to the Jersey Shore.  I did not go to see the Situation,  Snookie, or any of those character’s.  I love to ride to the shore and meet up with people down there.  It is such a nice ride.

Saturday I did that.  It was a great way to start a nice weekend.  Having my clothes, a cold beer and good company waiting for made the ride complete.

If you live in this area people will say to you “Well at least the ride is flat”.  More appropriately the ride is “flattish”.  Sure the are are no mile plus long climbs, but there are plenty of false flats, and that WIND!  The wind was what had me thinking of this quote.

The ride was good.  I was on my bike, and I had a good destination.  To make thing’s better I met a mermaid on the road to guide me in.
